About

A few years ago, Valerie’s family noticed some drastic changes in her behavior and speech. It was determined in 2020 that she suffered from frontotemporal dementia. She is now 52 and her dementia is in advanced stages Her family is currently looking ahead, researching locked memory care facilities – both in suitability and pricing. Most of her day is spent pacing around the house or yard. As a healthy person, Valerie was high energy, always keeping busy, jogging for exercise. Now, her confused brain takes up most of her energy. It exhausts her. The proper facility will hopefully provide some relief as her disease worsens. On the lighter side, Valerie enjoys listening to music on the porch and looking at photographs of family. More often than not, she doesn’t understand commands, but when asked to ‘smile for the camera’, she obliges.
